Spooky Halloween

Here’s everything I did to celebrate halloween from decor to food to costumes and crafts…

Decor

My home is styled in a neutral palette so I wanted decorations to reflect that.
I followed a tutorial from @cardiff.mum on Instagram for the ghosts which involved using balloons and paper table cloth to create the ghost shape. I then cut out some eyes from brown card and stuck them on
I shopped at Hobby Craft for the rest of the decorations, picking out a variety of papermache and wooden items. I also got the spider web from them and used 3 packets.

A Halloween Feast

As I was hosting a party for toddlers I wanted to make sure there was enough variety to suit all preferences as well as a balance of sweet and savoury options. Here’s what I served up:
Savoury:
– Monster munch crisps
– Mummy sausage rolls
– Spooky boiled eggs
– Pumpkin pizza

Sweet:
– Ghost bananas
– Pumpkin tangerines
– Ginger loaf cake
– Blueberry yoghurt
– Pumpkin spice shortbread
– Peanut butter oat cookies (Get Happy oat cookie recipe with Reece’s pieces and peanut butter pumpkins)
– Spooky marshmallows
– Yoghurt coated raisins

To drink:
I offered a choice of orange juice or purple grape juice

Costumes

This was Brody’s first halloween so I wanted to put in the same effort as with Maiya’s first and hand make a costume for him. I took to pinterest to search for inspiration for a matching costume for brother and sister and came across this idea from Pretty Plain Janes.
It was really simple to make yet so effective. They both look adorable together and Maiya had so many comments from people at the pumpkin patch.

Crafts

Before the kiddies ran riot playing in the house I laid out a couple crafts for them to take home. Firstly, some simple pumpkin painting. It was messy and the colours all got mixed up but that led to some pretty cool marble effect pumpkins!

I also got some air dry clay (from Hobby Craft) which we rolled out to make handprints. Once dried we added some eyes and hung them with string for a halloween decoration that can be brought out each year!
